Stress-Free Moving - Bucyrus, OH | Haring Real Estate

Moving to a brand-new home is very exciting, but it's also quite stressful. There are many tasks to accomplish before you leave your existing home, during the move, and while settling into the new location. To help ensure that your stress level is as low as possible, our REALTORS® have come up with some quick tips on keeping your anxiety in check.

  • Create a Detailed To-Do List
The first thing you should do to reduce the stress from moving is to create a very detailed to-do list, along with a timeline. If you just "wing it," then you may run into complications or otherwise get behind schedule. Items on your own to-do list can include things such as hiring a moving company, selling furniture you don't want anymore, updating your mailing address, transferring utilities, getting a new driver's license, etc.

  • Unpack Everything Right Away
Too often, a homeowner will spend weeks unpacking boxes. This creates clutter around your home and can be very overwhelming. We suggest that you unpack everything right away. If you have any boxes or other items that you plan to put in storage, be sure that you move them out of sight as soon as possible.

  • Take a Break Once in a While
Moving can be exhausting, even if you don't own a ton of stuff. You don't want to slow down too much, but you should take a break occasionally. Maybe even reward yourself with a trip to a new restaurant or buy some artwork or knick-knacks for your new home. This can help you feel re-energized so that you can complete more tasks but have less stress.

  • Stay in Touch with People
It's amazing how stress-relieving it can be to hear a familiar voice. While you're transitioning from one home to another, be sure that you stay in touch with friends and family members. Or, since we're currently living in the digital age, at least text back and forth with someone close to you. Keeping an open line of communication will help you cope more easily with the entire process and any problems that crop up.

  • Take Good Care of Your Health
We know there's a lot to do when you're moving, but this isn't the time to let your health fall by the wayside. Maintaining your health is essential to keep your stress level in check. This includes daily exercise, getting enough sleep, and eating nutritious, energizing foods. You might even want to take up yoga or meditation.

  • Explore the Neighborhood
Learning about your new neighborhood is a great way to avoid stress. It's always fun to walk around and see what kinds of restaurants, bars, grocery stores, parks, hair salons, and other types of locations are nearby. The great thing about modern society is that you can simply Google the area where you live and find many things to explore and enjoy.

  • Keep Your New Home Clean
For most people, a dirty home is a stressful home. If you immediately allow your new digs to get dirty, it won't be so exciting to return home after work. Plus, you probably want to make new friends in your new neighborhood, and it can be very stressful to have them come over when your house is a mess. Make sure you put aside enough time each week to clean things up.

Moving to a new home may be stressful, but owning a new home is very exciting. Many Bucyrus homes for sale are perfect for individuals, couples, and families. Contact us to find the dream home you've always wanted.
