High-flying Family Fun at the Ashland Balloonfest

Ashland, Ohio Balloonfest, June 28 - 30
The Ashland Balloonfest is a three-day hot air balloon celebration. It's a chance for your whole family to witness the whimsical spectacle of balloons as they fill the sky with color. Each balloon has a name, a pilot, and a signature design. Most have traditional balloon shapes, but you'll also see creatively formed balloons like Oggy The Friendly Dragon, One Eye'd Jack and Smiley.
During the Balloonfest, you'll have opportunities to watch the pilots and their crews prepare their balloons for flight. You'll get a first-hand look at how much energy and man/woman power it takes. Your entire family will enjoy the hot air Balloon Races as well as Balloon Glow and Balloon Encounter, special evening events that light up the sky.
Beginning on Thursday, June, 28th at 4:00 pm., you can participate in three days of balloon-focused fun, entertainment, and family-friendly activities. We've listed some items below. For a complete list of events, times, and locations check the online schedule or download the official Event Guide.
Opening Ceremony - Main Stage 6:15
Join the Ashland Veterans Color Guard for the official Balloonfest Opening.
Balloon Glow
Each night during the Balloon Glow you can witness a colorful display of balloons glowing against the night sky. You'll enjoy "balloon choreography" as they sway gently with the breeze and their lights flash in sync with background music.
Balloon Glow Encounters
During each night's Balloon Glow Encounters, you can spend time on the launch field and have a seat close to the action. You'll see the pilots as they engage glow burners to light up their balloons. You'll enjoy an up-close view of the captivating display. One ticket includes launch field-entry for four, beverages, and a souvenir.
Balloon Activities
Balloon pilots will participate in a Meet & Greet, Balloon Competitions, and Fun Flights. You'll have a chance to watch as they fill their balloons and get them ready to soar.
Food
Enjoy Miller Hawkins Fresh Foods Backyard BBQ on Friday evening. A menu of food items will be available in the Food Concessions Field during all three festival days.
Live Entertainment
Enjoy live music and a schedule of entertainment by Mr. Puppet, Jungle Bob, and more.
Daily Activities
The Balloons are the stars of Balloonfest, but you can also enjoy a schedule of fun, family-friendly activities.
